Hail the Sun has returned to South Florida with an electrifying line up to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of their sophomore album, Wake.
A band since 2009, Hail the Sun has torn through the post-hardcore music scene. Over the last 15 years, Hail the Sun has garnered a large fanbase, which was evident at Revolution. As Donovan, frontman and drummer for Hail The Sun put it best during the show: “Hail the Sun has felt like a little secret for so long, and this tour has shown that we’re not a little secret anymore.”
As the lights dimmed, the crowd erupted in cheers, which only grew louder when Sean and Aric, the guitarists of the band, John, the bassist, and Allen, their studio and touring drummer, took the stage with Donovan right behind them. As the first somber notes of “Rolling Out the Red Carpet” rang, the crowd electrified.
It was clear that something special had awakened within the crowd at Revolution Live.

Tracks like “Mourning Sickness” and “Cosmic Narcissism” kept the crowd pulsing with crowd surfers riding the wave of bodies, and a mosh pit opening at the center of the room. The setlist also included a beautiful stripped down rendition of “Relax/Divide” with only one guitar and a three-part harmonies between Donovan, Allen, and Sean.
They kicked off their encore by playing a snippet of “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears. As a fun and interactive element to their show, they had a QR code which was projected between bands where the fans were able to vote on a song they would like to hear on their setlist. For the show at Revolution Live, the fans voted for “Chunker” which is a single off their most recent album, Divine Inner Tension.
